eve is a product combination merging router, speaker and light to reduce the space, cable clutter and manufacturing costs, that each product would cause individually. during the design process, the main focus laid on expressing the individual identities of three objects in one body.
sketching helped defining the object's shape and details, but the three products were not represented equally. therefore, router, speaker and light were broken down into icons that display the essence of each. merging the main characteristics of the three products created a body with an angular surface, dynamic lines and a rounded silhouette.
making mockups helped deciding on a size for the design. two mockups in two different scales were built in slicer for fusion. using laser cutting technology, carton was cut into pieces that were then put together.
an interface has been developed to navigate between the three possible applications. a backlit touch surface allows selecting router, speaker or light. then, the router can be reset, a bluetooth device can be paired, or songs can be skipped. a control knob can be turned to adjust either the volume of the speaker or the brightness of the lamp. LED lights move as the knob is being turned to signify the sound level or light intensity.
a virtual model was constructed in Fusion 360. rendering different color combinations helped figuring out a color scheme for the product. the final images were created in keyshot.
